Feldman, Jacob (February 2, 2018). "Maybe 'Dilly Dilly' Is What America Needs in 2018". Sports Illustrated. Archived from the original on 2018-02-11. Retrieved 2019-08-30. Hard to miss, indeed. The pithy epizeuxis debuted in August and has spread across the lips of American masses. It was briefly listed as the official motto for Ames, Iowa, on Wikipedia.
I think Ames' Resource Recovery System (the city's garbage-burning facility) is a sufficiently notable item to include under infrastructure, given that it was the first in the nation to open and reduces the city's natural gas dependency. Anybody agree? Twedt (talk) 19:58, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I completely agree with including something about Ames's power plant. Its entirely unique, because the city actually burns most of its trash for power, replacing an earlier coal or oil plant in the late 1970's or early 80's or so (I don't really remember when, but I think there is an article about it in the NY times archives I remember reading a few years ago). For being a fairly sizable city with a college at its center, this article lacks a lot of depth on the story of Ames Iowa. I don't really have the time to edit this article, but I know for certain some things people can dig into if they want to contribute to this article:
- Power plant history ( mentioned above)
- history of former Local gravel mines (including ada Hayden and peterson pit parks)
- history of Mary greeley medical center
- history of the Sheldon Munn hotel
- annexation of the settlement of "Ontario"
- Sopers mill
- Furman aquatic center history
These are a few things that can get people started on the history of Ames Iowa. Gransica (talk) 16:14, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
